Bill Lay Owner This restaurant is right on the Atlantic with great views and a sliver of sunset. We went to the Duval Street location. Even though the party would not be for six months, she took the time to talk us through everything and then followed up promptly a few days later as she promised she would. Extensive menu at moderate prices.
La Trattoria - Pip, the general manager, was also very helpful when we mentioned that we might want to have a birthday party dinner at the restaurant.
The order was definitely rushed with no reason. We decided to try La Trattoria for brunch, Nov. We had reservations for 11:00, when we arrived we were seated promptly. The restaurant was not very busy. There were 4 of us and we decided on the brunch buffet option instead of the offered a la carte menu. The brunch consisted of: Boiled Shrimp and oysters on the half shell served on ice. There was also a dessert display that consisted of doughnuts, mini cheesecakes. I think for an Italian restaurant it was a weird combination of food items. The food quality was mediocre at best. The shrimp were over cooked, the eggs bene was cold, the bacon was soggy. The pork and yucca were both very dry, the chaffing dishes were often empty. Nov 5, 2018 I very much appreciate the constructive criticism. We pride ourselves in putting out a good product and by the sounds of it, we fell short on this day. We will kick things up a notch next Sunday. Chef is very accommodating to allergies and changing the food with other available ingredients. Staff is extremely personable, welcoming, making it feel a bit like visiting your aunt's for dinner. FYI - they serve gluten free pasta!
Worth returning to try a different entree selection. Chris is an excellent waiter, very attentive. We had a lovely dinner at this Restaurant on busy Duval street on the start of Goombay annual celebrations. We did not have a reservation but were seated promptly. From the sweet Italian sausage in our Tortellini Virgillio to the fresh pesto cream sauce of the Penne Venezla, La Trattoria is the perfect way to share a special occasion. Already looking forward to our return. Three of us had dinner here on one of our nights in Key West. Extensive menu at moderate prices.
